How Yuken complies with California Proposition 65

1. What is California Proposition 65?

California Proposition 65 is the law of the state of California which was enacted in November, 1986 by referendum. The purpose of Proposition 65 is to protect Californians and drinking water resource from chemicals known to cause cancer, birth defects, California Proposition 65 requires businesses, people, and corporations to provide a explicit reasonable warning before Californians is exposed to chemicals listed on Proposition 65 provided that they are intentionally informed.

2. Warning symbol

Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assesment (OEHHA) requires businesses to put warnings on any products containing listed chemicals in Proposition 65.

3. How to comply with Proposition 65

Yuken‘s products are designed with consideration of environment and their materials are selected on the basis of product safey, transparency, quality, and satisfied specifications. Although we recognize that our products contain some of chemicals listed in Proposition 65, the content level is in a range of safety. Conducting the necessary testing to certify that exposure levels are beneath the Proposition 65 standards on all products would be costly, time consuming, and unreasonable. Therefore, we have determined not to perform verification test.

In our intended and expected use of our products, there is no chemical explosure to people through contact with skin, ingesting as food and drink, or inhalation. Therefore, we will not attach warnings on our products, packages, nor instruction manuals highlighting chemicals which possibly cause birth defects or reproductive harm. We would like machine manufacturers installing our products to make a general judgement whether or not they need warnings.
